How do I use RD Mobile?
    You can find details on www.rdasia.com.ph under 'RD Mobile' and also our monthly magazine will prompt you to use your phone in different ways. A general description is also provided here;
    Comments, Feedback, Jokes and Anecdotes
We enjoy receiving your comments, jokes, quotes, and feedback. You can now submit these via SMS.

    How do I do it?
Simply send us an SMS to the number provided:

    Philippines
RD TALK YOUR MESSAGE to 2959
    Submit Photos
You can now also send in your photos from your camera phone via MMS. You'll need to have a GPRS enabled phone and a data plan with your mobile operator but many people have this, sometimes without even knowing.

    How do I do it?
It's the same as sending a picture message. Just take a photo (or select one from your saved images) and choose to send it as an MMS or picture message. When prompted further you should select to send to an 'email address' instead of a number. Each phone is different so you may have to check under 'more' or 'options' to find this.
Then simply enter your name, location and a description of the photo. Then enter the destination address mms@rd-mobile.com and click send.

Important: You do not have to have an email account set up on your phone to do this but you must select to send the picture from the MMS menu after taking or selecting a photo. Otherwise, you may make the mistake of selecting 'send email message' from your main menu (before taking a photo). This will actually open up a proper email screen with subject heading and associated email fields. If this happens you may end up getting an error message when sending which asks you to add your email account settings. Go back and follow the instructions closely to avoid it.

All submissions become property of Reader's Digest.
    Polls and Voting
Part of making things more interactive is to encourage feedback on various topics/issues. Every month just look out for the particular question(s) and follow the instructions to take part.

    How do I do it?
Read the question and send us an SMS to the number provided for your country.

    How do I do it?
To initiate the quiz simply send us an SMS to the number provided for your country. Then follow the instructions for each question and reply with the answer you think is correct.

Why did I not get a reply when I sent an SMS?
You should always get a reply. Sometimes the Mobile Operators have delay at peak times so just wait a little while and then try again. If you still haven't got a reply then send us an email with SMS Reply Failure as the subject heading to
help@rd-mobile.com Include your mobile phone number, name, country, mobile operator, time of sending and a description of what service you were using. We will reply within 24 hours were possible.
Why am I getting an error reply when I send a message?
Normally this is because you have sent a message incorrectly. This will occur mostly due to three reasons:
      1) You only sent the message RD by itself instead of with the command.
      2) You neglected to put spaces in between RD and the commands as required.
      3) You are spelling something wrong or sending an invalid command.
In all cases please check the commands as prompted and ensure you have sent and are following the correct format.
What happens if I subscribe to an SMS service?
Once you subscribe to a service we will send you a confirmation SMS. Then every week at the designated time and day we will send you the content you requested such as a Joke, Quotable Quote or Fast Fact. You will be billed every time you receive one of these messages and you can cancel this service for free at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions.
Do I get charged for every SMS?
Yes. Every message except for unsubscribe and help messages will be charged according to the billing as indicated in the service description.
Do I get charged if I have no credit?
You cannot send a message without credit so you will not be charged. If you are subscribed to a service but have no credit then you will not receive the subscribed service messages until you have credit again.
    How will I be billed?
Billing is charged direct to your mobile phone when you send as SMS. This will appear on your monthly statement or will be deducted from your pre-paid SIM account.
    What is MMS?
MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. This is what allows you to send pictures to your friends or to us. MMS uses GPRS so will be charged for by the Mobile Operators. Depending on the type of plan you have they may deduct credits or simply charge per KB of data transfer.
How do I send an MMS?
Take a picture with your camera phone or choose one from your picture library and then select to send it as an MMS or picture message from the menu or open your phone menu and select your 'messaging' tool. Then select 'send MMS/picture message' or 'create MMS/picture message' or 'new MMS/picture message'. You will then be asked to either choose a photo from your library or take a new photo.

Then simply enter your name, location and a description of the photo. Then enter the destination address mms@rd-mobile.comand click 'send'.

I sent in my MMS/picture message via email but didn't get a reply message?
That's OK you are not supposed to get an instant reply to email messages.
    What is a Mobile Operator?
A Mobile Operator is typically the company that supplies you with your phone plan whether it is a pre/post paid SIM card an account billing arrangement. They may also be referred to as a carrier, a network operator or a phone company.
What Mobile Operators are offering these services?
All major mobile operators in each market are offering these services as follows

    Philippines
    Globe, Smart and Sun
    What is GPRS?
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is the name given to the way data is transferred wirelessly to and from your phone via the internet. You will need to have a data plan as it costs money per kilobyte (KB) to transfer data via GPRS so check with your Mobile Operator for details.
    What is a Data Plan?
Mobile phones have to transfer data (KB) (like pictures or games) over the internet (GPRS) just like a computer. Mobile Operators need to charge for sending this data to your phone and as the customer you pay for it either by credits or per kilobyte depending on your plan. You may have a data plan set up already but there are various plans available depending on how much data you use so check with your Mobile Operator for details.
    What is JAVA?
JAVA (J2ME) is a programming language that allows game applications to be built for mobile phones. Most new phones have it but it's best to check with your mobile phone handset manufacturer to be sure.
How do I know if my phone has JAVA?
If you have other games stored on your phone you probably have JAVA. If you're not sure then check with your mobile phone handset manufacturer. To check if your phone supports the Word Power Game view the supported handset list . If you cannot see your handset on the list then you may not be able to play the game. You can send us an email if you'd like to have your phone added to the list of handsets. Simply send us an email with Please support my phone as the subject heading to help@rd-mobile.com and include your name, phone number, phone make and model number.
How do I play the game?
Inside the main menu of the game is a button called Instructions. You will find details of how to play the game there.
How do I download the game?
To download the game, please follow the instructions for sending an SMS. You will receive a reply message containing a link (URL) which will allow you to download the game. There are three standard methods for activating the link.
    (i) Most phones will automatically highlight the link in the SMS. Try pressing your arrow keys 'up' or 'down' to highlight the link. Then simply use the 'soft key' button (generally your menu button) to click and activate it. You will automatically begin to download the game to your phone.
(ii) Some phones require you to use the 'menu', 'options' or 'more' function. While viewing your message, use the soft key to bring up the message menu and select the option that allows you to use the link in the message. Typically this will appear as 'Use URL' or 'Go to URL'. There are variations so consult your phone model user manual or manufacturer for further help.
(iii) If neither of the above methods has worked, then you can enter the URL directly into your phone's web browser. Typically this exists in the 'main' menu so look for the icon or option that says 'internet' or 'web' or 'web browser'. Once inside navigate the 'options' or 'menu' and select 'Go to URL'or 'Enter address' or 'Enter URL'. Again every phone varies so consult your phone model user manual or manufacturer for further help. Then enter the URL from your SMS manually by typing the address into the box provided.
I downloaded the game but can't find where it is stored?
Different phones store downloads automatically in different places. The two most common places are in your 'Applications' folder or your 'Games' folder. Look through the main menu of your phone to find these or in extreme circumstances contact your mobile phone handset manufacturer.
I already downloaded the game once. Do I have to pay again to get the next version?
Yes. When you pay for the game you get the version for that month complete with 5 levels and bonus questions. Each subsequent month we will create a new version for you to download for the same price so you will need to send a new SMS to download the game. You can either replace the existing game file or save it alongside your last one so that you can accumulate all the versions.
I tried to download the game but my phone dosen't support JAVA? Can I get a refund? ?
Sorry but there are no refunds. The list of handsets provided on the website clearly states which phones are supported. Consumers are always encouraged to check this list before downloading to avoid disappointment.
